IN HIS TIME ON THE DONA ANA COUNTY COMMISSION, BILL HAS:

Negotiated a settlement between the County and the City of Sunland Park, allowing for the development of new jobs and affordable housing. Authored a re-write of the County Ethics Policy, strengthening provisions holding public officials accountable for their actions.

Led the charge to restructure the County’s healthcare funding policy, bringing different entities together to cut costs and allow for more resources go to people who need them.

Helped to negotiate a contract between the County and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, providing pay raises to employees.

Got the County into the state health investment pool, providing more benefits to County employees for less cost.

Worked to increase pay for County Sheriffs and establish the County’s first paid firefighting staff.

Led the effort to get funding for Spaceport America, which will establish jobs and create new science and math education programs in County schools.

AS THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NEW MEXICO RURAL DEVELOPMENT RESPONSE COUNCIL, BILL HAS WORKED IN:

Hidalgo County, funding the design of a new prison facility.

Reserve, funding the design of the new Main St. facility.

Deming, moderating a community forum on methamphetamine issues.

Hatch, assisting the town in developing a salsa packing facility.

Truth or Consequences, funding the design of the community’s hot springs waterfall.

Belen, funding the design of the new Heart of Belen project.

Santa Rosa, helping to produce the design for the new Blue Hole Convention Center.

Ft Sumner, assisting in setting up a new revolving loan fund.

Tatum, working to find funding to assist the school in setting up a construction business incubator.

Eunice, assisting the town in developing new housing policies to take advantage of the new LES facility.
