McCAMLEY WINS CONVENTION IN MAJOR SHOW OF STRENGTH
Takes 49% of the Vote in Four-Way Race
(Rio Rancho, NM) – Yesterday Congressional candidate and Dońa Ana County Commissioner Bill McCamley scored a tremendous win at the New Mexico Democratic Party’s Pre-Primary Nominating Convention, earning 49% of the delegates in a four-way race. The next two candidates in the race—Harry Teague and Al Kissling—got 36% and 13% respectively.
“We are so grateful for this overwhelming support for our campaign and the momentum it has given us,” said McCamley. “The message today was loud and clear: The people are hungry for someone who has the commitment to fight for change in Washington and results for southern New Mexico.”
“Today was a victory for the people. Many political insiders said that we wouldn’t win today, because there is another candidate who has a lot of his own money to spend. We proved them wrong. We showed that hard work, commitment, and a compelling message are what really matters.”
McCamley has previously received endorsements from 12 current and former elected Democratic officials in the Second District. He has also been endorsed by the New Mexico Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents over 7,000 New Mexico workers.
Since declaring his candidacy in April, McCamley has put over 45,000 miles on his car, traveling to every county in the district to listen to the concerns of constituents. He has also raised $300,000.
Following the convention, McCamley announced a campaign to raise $30,000 by his 30th birthday, which falls on April 1. More details will be released shortly.
